Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in South Africa on Monday to attend the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, and pay a state visit to South Africa. Since 2013, President Xi has been at every BRICS leaders’ meeting, pushing for deeper cooperation among member countries. The decade-old BRICS Business Council is one platform for closer relations. The Council has been working on fostering business ties, with regular dialogues to take up challenges among BRICS members. This year, a four-day trade fair alongside the BRICS Summit is being held, showcasing products and services from members.

CGTN’s Tian Wei had a chance to sit down in the fair with Busi Mabuza, the chair of the South Africa chapter of the BRICS Business Council. She is also board chair of the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa. She shared with us her views on global challenges among developing countries, including BRICS members.
