The government in the Australian state of New South Wales plans to establish a Great Koala National Park as early as 2025, merging 315,000 hectares (3,150 sq km) of national park and public forest land, in an effort to keep the population of the iconic animals from dwindling further. But environmentalists and forest advocates warn 2025 may be too late, as logging activity has been increasing in the area.
