Australia’s borders with Indonesia will remain open for now, despite the ongoing threat of Foot and Mouth disease. The Prime Minister is standing strong on his refusal to shut the border instead increasing biosecurity measures. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and the Nationals are pushing for the borders to be closed to minimize any outbreak which could see an $80-billion wipe-out to the Australian livestock industry.
