South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Australian park rangers stumble upon potential record-breaking toad” – below is their description.
A potentially record-breaking cane toad was found in Queensland’s Conway National Park on January 12, 2023. The 2.7kg (6lbs) amphibian could break the world record for largest cane toad, currently at 2.65kg (5.8lbs). A senior ranger at the national park predicted that the cane toad would lay up to 35,000 eggs in a season, posing an ecological threat to the country. It was later put down due to its breeding capacity and donated to a museum for further research.
