Missiles targeting the southern Ukrainian city caved in the face of a nine-storey block of flats, destroying five floors, and almost levelled a local university building.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on television: “Two are dead and around five to seven people are under the rubble.” Ukrainian media later reported another three bodies had been pulled from the wreckage.
Around 43 people are thought to have been wounded, including four children. One child, aged between nine and ten, was rescued from the burning apartment block.
