The first night of the first nationwide curfew in the Netherlands since World War Two on Saturday was marked with protests and unrest. Rioters set fires to a coronavirus testing facility while officers responded with tear gas and water cannons. The country has been under a tough lockdown since mid-December, which is due to continue until February 9. The government beefed up the lockdown with a curfew from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. that went into force on January 23.
