Advances in artificial intelligence have sparked a surge in popular AI applications in recent months. The Microsoft-backed company OpenAI rolled out its latest AI model, ChatGPT-4, in March. It also sparked intense discussions among people around the world on both the possibilities and the dangers of this new technology. Many are curious about how the new innovation was achieved. That’s a topic at the upcoming 2023 Zhongguancun Forum, held from May 25 to 30. With “Open Cooperation for a Shared Future” as this year’s theme, scientists and business insiders discuss cutting-edge technology at the forum. On these and more topics, CGTN’s Tian Wei talked to two long-time industry insiders, Kenneth Stanley and Joel Lehman. Both of them are scientists who used to work at OpenAI. They co-authored a popular science book, “Why Greatness Cannot Be Planned.” In their conversation, they shared views about cutting-edge artificial intelligence and the significance of technological innovation for societies in modern times.
