Afghan girls defy challenges to attend school
Thousands of new Afghan students are now going to what for them is an unfamiliar place: a public school. But educational progress has been slow and hampered by war.
A recent report by Save the Children says 400,000 children will drop out of their schools this year. The charity says this puts them at risk of child labour, recruitment by armed groups, human trafficking and early marriages.
Al Jazeera’s John Hendren reports from Kabul, where he visited a school for girls.
