One of the most notorious figured in Peru’s recent history has died after 29 years in prison.
Abimael Guzman was the founder of the Shining Path, a hardline armed group.
An estimated 69,000 people, mostly in Peru’s poor interior, were killed between 1980 and 2000 in the internal conflict launched by the group.
Al Jazeera’s Mariana Sanchez reports from Peru’s capital Lima.
