ABC TV admits to FAKING Navy Twerking Dancers video for HMAS Supply launch | 7NEWS

7NEWS Australia published this video item, entitled “ABC TV admits to FAKING Navy Twerking Dancers video for HMAS Supply launch | 7NEWS” – below is their description.

The commissioning of the Royal Australian Navy’s newest ship HMAS Supply has been ‘misreported’ by the ABC and the video package of the dancing was ‘disrespectful’ to the dancers says Prime Minister Scott Morrison. The ABC issued a statement apologising for cutting together two different videos, editing in the crowd of military officials watching on.

The combat support ship was commissioned on Saturday by the Australian Governor General in the memory of Prince Philip.

“I am disappointed that this event was so misreported. I think that was disrespectful to the performers. To suggest there the Governor-General or others were in attendance in that way. I think that was very dishonest. And I think standards have failed. And so I think obviously defence will look at these matters and make what changes they wish to in the future. I’ll leave that to them. It is disappointing that Australians were so misled on that issue…It is clear much of the reporting that we have seen of that matter that has been provided to Australians, in this case by the ABC, was wrong. Was false and was misleading. I think that’s very disappointing. I think the ABC should be reflecting on that” – Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

The dancing troupe, 101 Doll Squadron, performed at the Garden Island naval base at Woolloomooloo early in the event, before the arrival of the Governor General.
