In east China’s Zhejiang Province, search and rescue operations continued after Saturday’s tanker truck explosion in the city of Wenling. The death toll now stands at 19, with 172 injured. The huge blast set nearby vehicles on fire and flattened buildings. An official investigation is still ongoing regarding the cause of the explosion. The truck belonged to a company that transports dangerous substances. A search of the company’s records showed it was sanctioned on 10 occasions by transport authorities. Between 2014 and 2019, it also faced lawsuits involving four traffic accidents. Researchers are monitoring water near the accident site for any environmental hazards. Our reporter Xu Mengqi reports.
