The general secretary of the airline pilots’ trade union BALPA has said the government must support the industry with restrictions that have arisen from the coronavirus pandemic.
Willie Walsh, chief executive of BA’s parent company, International Airlines Group told the Commons Transport Select Committee BA’s plan to shed up to 12,000 jobs was driven by the need to ensure the survival of the airline given the “greatest crisis” ever seen by the sector.
