Yesterday, four years since we first called on Whirlpool to take action over their faulty tumble dryers, bosses were pulled in front of MPs for a parliamentary select committee. Over 1.7 million tumble dryers have now been modified, but Whirlpool execs admitted to MPs that there could still be up to 800,000 machines posing a fire risk in homes across the UK. Our Consumer Editor Alice Beer was at the committee, after submitting the details of our campaign to MPs. She joins us today to tell us what’s next, as well as sharing her warning for anyone who still owns a Whirlpool machine. We’re also joined by This Morning viewer Jemma Spurr, who spoke at the select committee yesterday after her modified machine recently caught fire and almost burned down her home.
