A rape case goes to court and the DCI is confident of a good result. All that begins to crumble when Barrister Nick Savage (Rupert Graves) uses information that Rachel Bailey (Suranne Jones) gave him while they were in a relationship together. For DC Bailey to publicly call him up on the matter would be to admit perjury as well as totally undermine the case and her own career. She is forced to remain tight-lipped, but the feud between the two grows worse.

Meanwhile, the star witness in the case, Hannah Conway (Nichola Burley) is humiliated by the trial, the parents of another deceased victim are angry and the tension resulting from the acquittal of Georgios Stelikos (Mete Dursun) results in his murder. Hannah Conway is now the prime suspect. Can DC Janet Scott (Lesley Sharp) make some sense of the mess and get a result for the victims robbed of justice and her disappointed colleagues?

Scott & Bailey is a new six-part police drama from ITV, rich in plot and refreshing in its casting. Episode 3 airs in the United Kingdom on ITV1 at 9pm on 12th June 2011.
