In Gotham Knights, Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin all have different abilities, playstyles, and reasons for fighting. After the death of Batman, they had to learn to fight their new foe without their mentor to guide them. Skill trees, loot, and character progression are all included in Gotham Knights.
