In today’s episode, Activision Blizzard employees are planning action in light of the company’s internal responses to the lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. Recently, employees of the mega-publisher/developer signed an open letter expresses their…disappointment in company leadership’s response to the lawsuit, and now employees, both in-office and working from home, are staging a walkout scheduled for tomorrow. Former Chairman of Sony Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden had some sharp words for the gaming industry. He took issue with rising game development costs and lack of diversity in games being produced. Layden partly blamed it on game companies being consolidated—a possible veiled jab at Microsoft, perhaps? And finally, if you’re planning on attending PAX West in September, you’ll need to provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test. The Delta variant is spreading, and the PAX Team wants to help provide for the safety of both event workers and attendees. Smart move, IMO. It’s your Daily Fix!
