The start of term for most children will be delayed now for more than two weeks in order to help stop the spread of Covid-19. Exam year students will now return on the 11th January with other secondary school students to follow a week later. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson says the decision was led by public health data and made as a joint-decision with the Health Secretary and confirms school exams will be going ahead this year. He states the focus is on ensuring exam-year students will be going into school from 11th January, a week earlier than other pupils which also applies to areas under Tier 4 restrictions.
