Chris Hemsworth to Star in “Black Hat” as the Hacker Who Can Handle a Gun

A digital menace is stalking the globe, as banks begin to malfunction, power stations experience critical failures and it seems every computer directed system is under threat. When the authorities question who can save the world from this omnipotent threat, Nicholas Hathaway steps forward as the convicted hacker, currently in jail, who is the only programmer with the black-hat know-how to untangled the fraud.

Chris Hemsworth, better known as Thor, takes on the role of a superhero hacker, jetting around the world shooting at the problem (rather than sitting at a computer desk). Much like Swordfish and Hackers, this is a Hollywood film attempting to make computer code sexy. The plot of Black Hat takes its protagonist to Chicago, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Jakarta in a rich visual experience of modern cyber warfare complete with Bond-style construction site stand-offs and festival crowd chase scenes.

Black Hat is directed and produced by Michael Mann. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Tang Wei and Wang Leehom, and it is written by Morgan Davis Foehl and Mann. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni produced the movie alongside Mann, while Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod served as the executive producers.
