Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlineshave been given the green light to co-operate on all aspects of their Australia – Singapore routes, including codeshare, pricing, marketing and sales. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said in a statement:

“While noting Singapore Airlines’ shareholding in Tiger Airways Holdings, the ACCC considers that the alliance is unlikely to lessen Tiger Airways Australia’s incentive to compete in the domestic market.”

Virgin Australia welcomed the move, promising more convenient flight times, more opportunities to earn frequent flyer points and access to around 70 additional destinations across Asia, India and Africa. The two airlines will launch reciprocal benefits for frequent flyer points shortly.
