Hundreds have gathered to honour the life of a volunteer firefighter killed when a fire tornado flipped over his truck.

Samuel McPaul died while battling the massive Green Valley blaze near Albury last month.

The 28-year-old is one of six firefighters killed in the NSW and Victorian fires.
