Less than three years from retirement, 57-year-old Kurexi Hawuli, Ayake Langan Village’s first Party secretary, continues to be on the frontline of poverty alleviation. In the past, the village experienced agricultural problems resulting in low produce. While conducting extensive research on the village’s farming requirements, Kurexi’s team discovered that the land was most suitable for cultivating plum and apricot. In 2019, more than 1,000-mu (66.7 hectares) plums were harvested, and farmers gained nearly 4 million yuan of income, lifting the village out of poverty.
