Global News published this video item, entitled “The King’s Speech: Charles delivers British PM Sunak’s pre-election agenda” – below is their description.
Britain’s government set out its plans to tackle crime, boost economic growth, and reduce the climate burden on Tuesday, an unashamedly political agenda that could be Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s first and last King’s Speech before an election.
In an agenda written by the government but delivered by King Charles to lawmakers packed into parliament’s ornate House of Lords, Sunak signaled his intent to create a dividing line with the opposition Labour Party before the vote expected next year.
There was little new in the King’s Speech, more a collection of what Sunak has worked on since becoming prime minister last year on a pledge to bring stability after two fellow Conservative leaders were forced from power in a matter of weeks.
It was the first time Charles had made the speech as King – though he stood in for his mother Queen Elizabeth months before her death last year – in a ceremony marked by pomp and pageantry. This was the first King’s speech in Parliament since 1951.

Voting is a method for a group, such as a meeting or an electorate, in order to make a collective decision or express an opinion usually following discussions, debates or election campaigns. Democracies elect holders of high office by voting. Residents of a place represented by an elected official are called “constituents”, and those constituents who cast a ballot for their chosen candidate are called “voters”. There are different systems for collecting votes, but while many of the systems used in decision-making can also be used as electoral systems, any which cater for proportional representation can only be used in elections.
In smaller organizations, voting can occur in different ways. Formally via ballot to elect others for example within a workplace, to elect members of political associations or to choose roles for others.
