Global News published this video item, entitled “North Korea tests new ballistic missiles amid ongoing nuclear standoff with the US” – below is their description.
North Korea’s state media said Monday that the country had successfully tested newly-developed long-range cruise missiles over the weekend, the first known testing activity in months, underscoring how the country continues to expand its military capabilities amid a stalemate in nuclear negotiations with the United States.
The weapons system “holds strategic significance” and the missiles flew 1,500 km before hitting their targets and falling into the country’s territorial waters during the tests, a KRT news presenter said.
South Korea said on Monday it is cooperating with the United States on a detailed analysis with regards to the missile test, while the South Korean and Australian foreign ministers called for dialogue with North Korea.
The report of the tests also comes before U.S. President Joe Biden’s special representative for North Korea was to meet his South Korean and Japanese counterparts in Tokyo to discuss the stalled nuclear diplomacy with North Korea.
