Laval daycare bus crash: Legault tells community “we are with you” during visit to crash site

Global News published this video item, entitled “Laval daycare bus crash: Legault tells community “we are with you” during visit to crash site” – below is their description.

Quebec Premier François Legault paid a visit to the daycare in Laval, Quebec on Thursday where a transit driver smashed a city bus into the facility a day earlier, and met with members of the still-grieving community.

A pair of four-year-old children were killed in the crash, while six others were hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday morning.

Legault visited the site to offer support to the families and daycare workers affected by the tragedy. He shook hands, thanking first responders for their work and telling those still trying to make sense of the attack that “we are with you.”

Pierre Ny St-Amand, 51, was allegedly driving the bus when it careened into the Garderie Éducative Ste-Rose early Wednesday. Laval police arrested him at the scene, where bystanders allegedly subdued him until authorities arrived. He has since been charged with first-degree murder.

Global’s Brayden Jagger Haines has more from the scene.
