China’s rural sports industry has been booming this year, receiving interest from all over the world. From the Village Super League in Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province, to the Village BA in Guizhou’s Taipan Village and the Village VA in Wenchang, Hainan Province, these rural sports events organized by local villagers feature fierce competition and enthusiastic fans. Grace, from Malaysia, is now a senior in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University. Since coming to China, she has been paying close attention to the development of rural sports. Grace found that the players in the Guizhou Village Super League have no age restrictions and professional thresholds, and there is no fee for tickets. The players and referees are all local villagers from different professions. She believes that Village Super League unites people from different backgrounds through football and that this inclusiveness is touching and reflects true fairness.
