Two warships from China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy have sailed over 1,000 nautical miles since April 26, evacuating over 1,000 Chinese and foreign people within six days from Sudan.
PLA Navy destroyer Nanning and its comprehensive supply ship Weishanhu successfully completed the emergency missions of evacuating 1,171 people in two batches and transferred 940 Chinese citizens with 231 foreigners to safety.
After the first batch of 678 people were evacuated on April 27, the PLA Navy then completed second batch evacuation of 493 people from Sudan that concluded two days later.
