Chinese President Xi Jinping and Beninese President Patrice Athanase Guillaume Talon announced on Friday the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
The announcement was made when Xi held talks with Talon at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Talon is in China for a state visit.

The official language of Benin is French, with several indigenous languages such as Fon, Bariba, Yoruba and Dendi also being commonly spoken. The largest religious group in Benin is Roman Catholicism, followed closely by Islam, Vodun (commonly referred to as Voodoo outside the country) and Protestantism.
China is the third largest country in the world by area and the largest country in the world by population. Properly known as the People’s Republic of China, the political territory of the country includes Tibet and Hong Kong. The capital is Beijing.
Xi Jinping has been the President of China since 2013 and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) since 2012.
