A meeting of minds with five countries, #Brazil, #Russia, #India, #China and South Africa, better known as #BRICS. Though this year, it’s being held virtually due to the pandemic. Russia is hosting the summit, which was supposed to take place in St. Petersburg in July. This year’s theme is “BRICS Partnership for Global Stability, Shared Security and Innovative Growth.” The summit is seen to help BRICS countries draw on each other’s strengths, cooperate on curbing the pandemic and getting on the road to recovery and growth. Together, these five countries make up about 42 percent of the world’s population and over 20 percent of the global GDP.

Russia is a major great power, with the world’s second-most powerful military, and the fourth-highest military expenditure. As a recognised nuclear-weapon state, the country possesses the world’s largest stockpile of nuclear weapons.
South Africa is a country on the southernmost tip of the African continent, marked by several distinct ecosystems. Inland safari destination Kruger National Park is populated by big game. The Western Cape offers beaches, lush winelands around Stellenbosch and Paarl, craggy cliffs at the Cape of Good Hope, forest and lagoons along the Garden Route, and the city of Cape Town, beneath flat-topped Table Mountain.
