Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Minister Bowinn Ma, and Minister of Forests Bruce Ralston will provide an update about the wildfire and drought situation in British Columbia on Thursday.
Earlier this week, B.C. emergency officials said the wildfire situation in the province’s interior has “momentarily stabilized,” but that significant risk remains.
As of Monday, the number of people under wildfire evacuation orders had dropped to about 8,000 — down from a peak of around 27,000 last week, Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Minister Bowinn Ma said.
Another 54,000 people remained under evacuation alerts.
