In her fight to protect her family and take Kingpin down for good, Maya unlocks ancestral powers that draw on her ancestor’s strengths and course through her. Examining the anticipation for mutants/X-Men to officially debut, Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan’s comics-to-live-action adaptation that led to her being labeled a mutant, Maya’s own comics history, and even Echo’s thematic clues, it seems like the MCU is laying down the groundwork to make Maya the future host of the Phoenix Force. Executive producers Brad Winderbaum and Richie Palmer shared their thoughts on the theory.
