Cincinnati Bengals defense coordinator Lou Anarumo returns to In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to preview the defense before the start of 2023 training camp.
Lou is very excited to start the 2023 season and he will have some new faces to coach this season. The biggest storyline coming into camp is how the young safeties will have to step up to the starting lineup after the departure of Jessie Bates and Von Bell. Bates and Bell were a huge part of the success of the Bengal’s defense the past two seasons and filling their production will be a huge storyline to follow throughout the year. The Bengals also drafted three defense players with their first three picks this year that will make an immediate impact. Myles Murphy was the Bengals first-round selection in 2023 and is getting a lot of buzz about his freakish athletic ability, he wont get the starting nod as a rookie but it will be exciting to see him rush the passer as a rotational player.
