The Air Transport Safety Bureau says active bushfires are making it difficult for investigators to access the site of the water bomber that crashed in south-eastern New South Wales yesterday.
The three men killed have been named as Captain Ian McBeth, First Officer Paul Hudson and Flight Engineer Rick DeMorgan Junior.
It’s believed the plane crashed shortly after releasing retardant over a blaze in the Snowy Monaro area.
ATSB Chief Commissioner, Greg Hood, says investigators will gather and analyse the plane’s mechanical history and black box when they can access the site.
