Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to hold a press conference Tuesday to provide an update on the government’s ongoing COVID-19 pandemic response.
Federal ministers and health officials are expected to provide an update on cases at a news conference following Trudeau’s remarks.
Canada added 6,847 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday, pushing the total number of infections to 667,672. Health officials also reported 119 new fatalities associated with COVID-19, meaning 17,086 people have died in the country to date.
So far, Canada has approved two vaccines against the virus for use, one from Pfizer-BioNTech, the other made by Moderna.
Tuesday’s briefing also comes as Trudeau is expected to shuffle his cabinet. The shuffle will address those in cabinet who say they do not plan on running again in the next federal election, sources told Global News.
