Anne Ellegood is the Senior Curator at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and has been selected to curate the work of Sydney-based Egyptian-born sculptor Hany Armanious at the Australian Pavilion in the Giardini in June 2011 as part of La Biennale di Venezia.<\/p>\n
The 54th International Art Exhibition will run from June 4th to November 27, 2011 (Preview on June 1-2-3). Director Bice Curiger chose the title “ILLUMInazioni – ILLUMInations” for the event. Five venues in will play host to some of the world’s best contemporary art.<\/p>\n
Before her appointment to the Hammer Museum, Ms Ellegood was Curator of Contemporary Art at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden in Washington DC from 2005-2009. Previously, she was the curator for the collection of philanthropist Peter Norton and from 1998-2003 was the Associate Curator at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.<\/p>\n
Ms Ellegood has contributed to publications such as Artforum and Tate Etc. Her recent publications include the introduction for Phaidon\u2019s Vitamin 3D<\/em>, a Tate survey of contemporary sculpture; a profile of Haim Steinbach for MATRIX\/Berkeley: A Changing Exhibition of Contemporary Art<\/em>; and a catalogue essay for Iv\u00c1n Navarro for the Chilean Pavilion for the 2009 Venice Biennale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Anne Ellegood is the Senior Curator … <\/p>\n
