Wimbledon Tennis 2010: Nadal and Murray Through to 2nd Round

World Number One Rafa Nadal and home hopeful Andy Murray have today progressed to the second round of the 2010 Wimbledon Men’s Singles tournament after both players won in straight sets.

Nadal beat Japanese qualifier Nishikori 6-2 6-4 6-4 to go through, while Brit Murray overcame an early wobble – he dropped his second service game – to race away from Czech player Hajek 7-5 6-1 6-2.

These two are seeded 2 and 4 and they made far easier work than the other top seeds, Federer (1) and Djokovic (3) who both required five sets to come through in their opening matches yesterday.

The Wimbledon grass has yet to claim a major scalp in 2010, and, on the evidence of the opening round, Nadal and Murray look set to enjoy steady progress after showing impressive form today.
