Venezuela opposition to hold symbolic referendum

Venezuela’s opposition is expected to hold an unofficial referendum amid protests and unrest.

The vote is seen as a bid to prevent President Nicolas Maduro from rewriting the constitution.

Food shortages, inflation and a crashing currency have seen hundreds of thousands of people protest against the president in recent months.

Al Jazeera’s John Holman reports from Cucuta, across the border in Colombia.
