US Retailers Prepare For Thanksgiving Sales

Bridal gowns will be half price at Bebe.com

US retailers are preparing for the biggest weekend in the American shopping calendar.

Black Friday, Thanksgiving & Cyber Monday will see the majority of the year’s purchases fly through merchants’ tills in a mere four days of shopping.

Golden Globe® winning actress Valerie Bertinelli has teamed up with Scottsdale Fashion Square and Veebow to promote her new cookbook. She said of the upcoming book signing & associated promotions on Saturday 24th November 2012:

“I love to save money while shopping. And since over half of all purchases are made during the holidays, this promotion will give Scottsdale Fashion Square shoppers a way to have an even merrier season.”

Gap is turning the terminology on its head to offer a “Bright Friday” with 60% off from Tuesday 20th November 2012 until Sunday 25th November 2012. Old Navy is offering a free New Super Mario Bros. U game for the Nintendo Wii U system for all customers spending $40 or more. Banana Republic is going for a straight 40% off on Black Friday. Piperlime in New York will open an hour early on Black Friday with free hot chocolates and holiday treats for shoppers.

On Cyber Monday, Bebe.com will be offering 50% off bridal gowns.

These are just a few of the thousands of offers which bombard US shoppers during the holiday season. Analysts will be watching the sales figures closely to gain a more accurate picture of the health of US retail at this important period in the retail year.
