Trump names loyalist as top spy amid warnings of Russian election interference

President Donald Trump has appointed Richard Grenell as acting director of national intelligence. A Trump loyalist, Grenell has been US ambassador to Germany since 2018. The announcement comes after US media reported the president was angered by an intelligence briefing to house lawmakers that warned of Russian interference in the 2020 US elections to help Trump get re-elected. A Kremlin spokesman denied the allegations.
