Travel: DoubleTree by Hilton Aqaba Opens in Jordan

A new DoubleTree by Hilton has opened on the Red Sea marking the first Middle Eastern hotel for the brand. The DoubleTree by Hilton Ras al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates also opened in the same week. DoubleTree by Hilton is a brand of upscale distinctive hotels worldwide.

Aqaba is Jordan’s only coastal city and provides a base for excursions to Wadi Rum, Petra and the Red Sea. The Arab Tourism Ministers Council named Aqaba the Arab Tourism Capital for 2011.

Rudi Jagersbacher, Area President of the Middle East and Africa for Hilton Worldwide commented on the opening of the 173 room hotel:

“This hotel is the first of four we have in our development pipeline in Jordan and we’re looking forward to becoming a positive and contributing member of the tourism industry here.”

32-inch LCD TVs, high-speed internet access, infinity-style swimming pool, two whirlpools, a sauna and steam room, and a fully-equipped fitness centre greet guests at the brand new hotel.
