IMF staff have developed a plan with the ambitious goal of vaccinating 60% of the world in a year. Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva makes the case that the $55 billion cost to do so, is dwarfed by $9 trillion in economic gains worldwide.
Vaccines are proving to be a powerful weapon against the Covid-19 pandemic. But unequal access to the vaccine is leading to a divergent recovery, where countries with a surplus are growing strongly while those without are falling behind.
