The Angels’ Share has just been released on DVD in the UK and has to be the best gift one can buy for a whisky fan, without buying whisky.
This underdog film follows Robbie, a schemie from Glasgow who has just narrowly avoided jail after attacking another man. A big part of his release is due to his pregnant girlfriend, Leonie, who vows to keep him on the straight and narrow in time for the birth of his child.
Robbie’s past keeps catching up with him as the other criminals on the estate seek vengeance for a family feud. A chance encounter with a distillery as a reward for his community service group gives Robbie the break he needed. The talent and lack of it in the group conspires to create one of the classiest heists in film history with a trek across the highlands and a deal with a high-value whisky expert.
