Building synthetic muscle for robots

Ras Labs is a small Boston-based startup that uses a unique material that can expand and contract like muscle when voltage is applied.

This video item shows some of the processes involved in making “synthetic muscle” for robots, from a company called Ras Labs.

The company has found and developed a material which can turn electrical impulses into a movement which mimics muscles.

This technology, they hope, can be applied in the development of “grippers” to do things like, for example, sorting fruits.
