The Canadian became the first wildcard to become women’s singles champion, and the youngest player to win the event since Serena Williams in 1999.

Andreescu defeated four Top 20 players in the last four rounds, including Garbiñe Muguruza, Elina Svitolina, and Angelique Kerber in the final.
