Elise Mertens is a Belgian professional tennis player. A top 15 player in both singles and doubles, she achieved a her career-high singles ranking of world No. 12 on 26 November 2018. On 10 May 2021, she became world No. 1 in women’s doubles for the first time. In doubles, alongside Aryna Sabalenka, Mertens has won the 2019 US Open and the 2021 Australian Open.
