Jamie Heaslip has won the IRP Men’s 15s Try of the Decade award… but every try in this list of nominees is outstanding, from first to last. Just a great video for rugby fans to remember and excellent 10 years of international rugby union.

In the list:
Chris Ashton‘s amazing from your own try-line run in for England against Australia. He starts celebrating on around the half way line, just backing his own pace. Speedy.
Radike Samo scoring pretty much from the return of a restart for Australia against old rivals New Zealand. The big number 8 put in a huge straight arm handoff to break the line, then puts on the afterburners to slide over for an impressive score. Powerful.
Bryan Habana from a benign looking lineout, for South Africa against the All Blacks, the pacey winger came in from his wing, collected the ball, dropped a shoulder and sidestepped two defenders, before chipping over for himself to touchdown in the corner. Tricky.
Beauden Barrett for the All Blacks against France, in 2013 June internationals, saw the men in black work the ball from a turnover pretty much on their own line, through hands, with one fortunate bounce from a chip forward, but impressive offloads and Barrett finishes nicely. Teamwork.
Francois Hougaard scoring against New Zealand for South Africa in 2014 is next. From their own 22, the Springboks work the ball from one side to the other, through several hands, before the little scrum half touched down between the posts. Impressive.
Julian Savea for New Zealand against France in RWC 2015 was a kick-chase that led to some quick hands, before Savea battered his way to the line. Ruthless.
Jamie Heaslip scoring against Italy in the 2016 Six Nations was from a 22 drop-out, which Ireland sneakily tapped back, before shifting the ball incredibly through the whole team, one side, to the other, before the number 8, who did well to keep up, touched down in the corner. Outstanding.
Joaquin Tuculet for Argentina against New Zealand in the June Internationals of 2017 saw another try which began in the defensive 22. The fullback was on hand just in time when impressive territorial gains looked to be petering out. Timing.
Brodie Retallick scoring for the All Blacks against Australia in 2018’s Rugby Championship was another memorable try. Making a couple of line breaks from defensive territory, Retallick was keen to get a mismatch to finish it off, and the big second row threw a nice dummy before touching down. Deft.
TJ Perenara scored a try in the dying moments of New Zealand’s 2019 RWC match, with an impressive behind-the-back pass and a one-handed touchdown in the corner. Silky.
Jamie Heaslip’s try was the winner, but in truth, all of the above moments were exceptional moments in world rugby.
