The International Olympic Committee has formally invited expressions of interest for the 2024 Olympic Games, with the deadline for bids set for 15th September 2015.
Bidding authorities will have the chance to receive assistance and feedback during these initial stages. Germany, Italy and the United States have already indicated an intention to bid.
Among recent changes to the bidding process is a commitment from the IOC to reduce the cost of bidding for, and hosting, the Olympic Games. Potential bid cities are encouraged to place greater emphasis on the use of existing venues, and temporary venues where no long-term need exists or can be justified.
