Iguazu falls wins fifth race at meydan

The penultimate race at Meydan on Saturday 21st January 2012, was the 20:40 fifth race, the Al Naboodah Construction Group thoroughbred Handicap, which was run over 1600M (approximately 1 mile) on the Turf track.

Runners were competing for a prize pool of USD $30,000, of which the winner received $18,000.

The race was claimed by Iguazu Falls who got home a length to the good of the closely grouped Krypton Factor, Spirit Of Sharjah and Prince D’Alienor who finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

Iguazu Falls tackled the long time leader, Krypton Factor, early in the home straight, but perhaps the strongest finishers of the race were Spirit Of Sharjah and Prince D’Alienor who simply left it too late to tackle the winner, who had been cleverly produced at just the right time by jockey Xavier Ziani.

Full results are detailed below.
