The card of racing at Sligo on the evening of Wednesday 5th August 2015 has been cancelled following heavy rain at the Irish racecourse.
An inspection will take place at the track ahead of the scheduled meeting on Thursday.
Thursday’s inspection will take place at 8am.
The meeting was abandoned after an initial inspection at 8am had declared the course fit, but with another inspection scheduled for lunch time.
In between these inspections, further heavy rain fell on an already heavy turf track, leading organisers to take the view that the ground would be unfit for racing come the evening.
According to a tweet from Horse Racing Ireland:
Sligo abandoned today following further heavy rain and an unfavourable weather forecast. Sligo to hold 8am inspection ahead of Thursday meet
