Racing TV published this video item, entitled “Wonderful – Clive Brittain holds court in this lovely interview at Newmarket | Racing TV” – below is their description.
Former racehorse trainer Clive Brittain retired from the profession in 2015 and, while he can no longer walk, he has still retains all of his wit, sparkle and charm as displayed in this lovely interview with Racing TV’s Nick Lightfoot on the July Course at Newmarket.
Brittain attended the track to award the prizes for the Listed Maureen Brittain Memorial Empress Fillies’ Stakes, run in memory of his late and beloved wife. She loved the July Course and the prestigious race for two-year-old fillies, and Brittain said this was a fitting tribute in her honour – won this year by the exciting Galileo Gold filly System, trained by Richard Hannon.
Brittain tells us that he’s still living in Newmarket – just over the road from Sir Michael Stoute – and still talks great pleasure and enjoyment from being around racehorses every day. Famously once the earliest riser in Newmarket, Brittain says he can still hear the horses from his place near the Bury Road.
Enjoy the full interview with the Group One-winning and pioneering former trainer about love, loss and the emotional power of the racehorse.
