UK & Irish Horse Racing Tips, Friday 31 October 2014

Another Friday of horse racing action is set to take place in the UK and Ireland on 31 October 2014, with Halloween racing scheduled in Britain at Newmarket, Uttoxeter, Wolverhampton and Wetherby, and across the Irish sea at Down Royal and Dundalk.

At Newmarket, our suggestest Best Bet is EXPENSIVE DATE, a horse which has shown enough on all-weather to suggest that 20/1 to make one of two paying places is a reasonable price against some relative newcomers in the 2.00 race. The likely favourite Terror will go off at odds on, so the selection represents a value choice, though Terror has been highly tried and performed well in Group 1 company last time out.

At Down Royal, we fancy an each-way contender against a short-priced opponent again, with the selection of HELL CAT MAGGIE in the 13.35 race. This horse has won three on the bounce, but faces tough opposition in the form of Willie Mullins’ unbeaten Morning Run under Ruby Walsh. At 9/1, though, our selection represents good each way value – and with a name to suit halloween racegoers!

At Uttoxeter, we select MINELLA PRESENT at odds on to get off to a good start in the opening novice hurdle event at 12.50, at a price of IRO 1/2.

Our other UK National Hunt selection for Friday is the consistent chaser, BIG SOUND, who goes in the 3.25 handicap chase over 3m1f. The handicapper might not yet have found this horse out, and, at 11/4, the odds are good in a race which features only one or two dangers.

This evening’s all weather selections are KOPTOON in the 5.55 at Wolverhampton and CARRIE BOW CAY who should give an each-way run for your money in the very last race of the day, the 9.10.
